Clarence Presbyterian Church's Youth Algonquin Canoe Trip In late June of this summer, nine senior high school youth and seven adults from Clarence Presbyterian Church embarked on a traditional, beautiful Algonquin canoe trip in Ontario, Canada. With the intention of braving the woods for a full seven days, the campers took off ready to enjoy the wonder of God's natural beauty. The group took a loop that has been done a few times before, but the trip itself was as unique as these trips always turn out to be. Clarence Presbyterian Church has conducted these trips for the last 20 years, and this one was noted as being the wettest and buggiest. Despite the fact that the sky opened and "rained" everyday, the group pulled through. Through placid lakes, over slippery slopes and lengthy multi-kilometer bug infested portages, the group stayed strong, and, if anything, grew stronger. Although the weather was melancholic, the spirits of the group members certainly were not. After spending nearly a week outdoors, every camper left holding onto many fond memories of his/her experiences on the lakes of Algonquin, and many of the campers are already anticipating next year’s return.
