Pastor David Crapnell Installed at 1st Presbyterian Church - Niagara Falls
The Rev. David William Crapnell was installed as pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Niagara Falls in a service on Sunday, August 2, 2009 by the WNY Presbytery and members of the congregation.  A sermon “Behold, we have this treasure in earthen vessels” was given by the Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart, First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown. He, along with our church's Presbytery representative, Mrs. Teresa Kilmer, posed the Constitutional questions to the candidate and the congregation. Readings were made by Mrs. Lis Slenk, of the congregation, Rev. Laura Norris-Buisch, Riverside Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Lowell W. Avery, Cleveland Drive Presbyterian Church.  Also in attendance was Presbytery Moderator Rev. Donna K. Lewis (who unfortunately was held up in traffic caused by an accident on the Grand Island Bridge). Janita Byars, poet of transformation of the Presbytery of Western New York, also attended and provided pictures.
The installation service was attended by many ordained members of the local clergy, who prayed over Rev. Crapnell in a Laying on of Hands.   The service ended with Niagara's oldest church's unique tradition, during which everyone leaves their pew and joins hands to sing the final hymn, Let There Be Peace On Earth.
Following the service a reception was held in the church Fellowship Hall. Click here to see photos.
