Faure’s Requiem Sing-In at East Aurora First Presbyterian Church of East Aurora will host a summer sing-in of Faure’s Requiem on Tuesday, August 11th at 7 PM in the sanctuary of the church on Main Street (20A) in East Aurora. Kathleen Keenan-Takagi, choir director of the church will conduct the event. Leah Schneider, soprano and Jeffrey Thompson, baritone, will be the vocal soloists, Betty Pitcher, organist at the church will play the organ. All interested singers and instrumentalists are invited to participate. Singers may bring their own scores or borrow one. Please call to reserve a copy if you wish to borrow a copy. Instrumentalists may call and obtain a copy of music by calling 652-0160 (the church office) or 832-2226 (Kathy’s home phone). Extreme Make-over: Prayer Edition Saturday, October 3 Workshops on ways to pray will be held at Ebenezer United Church of Christin West Seneca for people who wish to expand their prayer life or share with others a variety of prayer forms. Summer Mission Weekend is coming at Hamburg Presbyterian Church! August 16 – 9:30 a.m. Worship – We will have with us Rev. Dave Diercksen, former pastor at HPC and now Coordinator/Pastor for Puentes de Cristo on the US-Mexican border. Saturday evening, August 15, 6:30 p.m., there will be a potluck dinner in Fellowship Hall to provide more time to visit with Pastor Dave. Bring a dish to share along with your table service. The Mission Committee will provide beverages. We look forward to seeing one and all. Organist Position Open Maryvale Drive Presbyterian Church is searching for an Organist/Pianist/Choirmaster. August Apologetics Roundtable You are invited to the next WNY Apologetics Roundtable event on August 2, 2009 at 6:30pm hosted by Island Presbyterian Church (Grand Island). Our guest speaker will be Rev. Nader Awad, a native of Egypt, presenting a talk titled, “Understanding Islam: Loving our Muslim Neighbors.” Rev. Awad will examine the Islamic worldview and how Christians should respond to it in hopes of drawing Muslims to Christ. This will be followed by audience questions and discussion.
