Congregational Resources – to Identify and Share
Embedded in Presbyterian congregations are members with high-level skills and abiding interests.  The PWNY staff is starting a project that would identify those resources and then link them up with opportunities for sharing with other congregations and their host communities.  We would start small – with a pilot project.  If your congregation would like to be the host for a series of enriching presentations (from hands-on arts experiences to lectures by Presbyterians at the top of their fields), please notify Mary Mohlke (mmohlke@gmail.com or 688-8699) or Janita Byars (janitab@pbywny.org or 604-6374)

Congregational Transformation Ministry Team (CTMT) Takes a Field Trip
Members of the CTMT traveled to Jamestown, Wednesday, July 15th, for dinner and a meeting.  Bill Springer (Bacon Memorial, Niagara Falls) attended the meeting through cell phone connections.  Major items of business included work on a proposed Congregational Transformation Handbook for members of all local congregations’ transformation teams/committees.  Click here for a look at the proposed index.  Click here for photos of the meeting, which was held at the home of Poet of Transformation Janita Byars.

What is ID Day at Church?

Your church can commit to being a part of the ID Day at Church campaign—a nationwide movement to raise awareness about diabetes. I Decide To Fight Diabetes (ID) Day will be held on November 8 and—across the nation—it will be the kickoff for November activities in support of Diabetes Month.
The ID Day at Church campaign asks Churches across the country also to commit to sponsoring diabetes awareness activities in summer/fall 2009 in preparation for ID Day on November 8, 2009. Your church can provide loving encouragement to members by urging them to honor their health and bodies by participating in diabetes awareness programs—encouraging church members to be physically active, make healthy cooking and eating choices, and to use the resources available through the American Diabetes Association.  Click here for a flyer describing the event.
