Pancake Breakfast
The Tonawanda Indian Presbyterian Church will have a pancake breakfast on April 25 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. For a free will donation you get all the pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and real maple syrup you can eat.  The church is located at 6798 Meadville Road, Basom, NY 14013.  Click here for a map.

New Immigration Initiative

Come and hear about: The Food Bank of WNY, The Gleaners of Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Two Cents a Meal, Bread for the World, Angel Food Ministry, Souper Bowl of Sharing. A service of worship will be followed by lunch.

Church Library Ministries
Maureen “Moe” Conley, the librarian at Wayside Presbyterian Church in Hamburg, is hosting a get together for anyone interested in church libraries on Wednesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m.  So far, 5 local churches are gathering to share ideas about their church library ministries. All are new to church libraries and they welcome the opportunity to collaborate AND support others as they build strong and thriving church libraries. They will be joined in cyberspace by a church librarian from Bemus Point. Contact Maureen at

Yankees vs. Cleveland
Clarence First Presbyterian Church is planning a baseball game bus trip to see the Yankees play Cleveland in Cleveland on Saturday, May 30. 
Cost is $65 for the transportation and game ticket.  All are welcome.

Reformed Theology course
Reformed Theology is the next course offered in the Academy for Lay Ministry. It begins on April 20 and will be taught by Rev. Dr. Mary Lee Talbot, Director of Discipleship and Nurture of the Presbytery of WNY. This 20 hour class will be $75. Click here to see the flyer with details about the course.

Leadership Trends in the PCUSA
Over the past month, Marcia Clark Myers, director of the Office of Vocations was asked to present an overview of leadership trends in the PCUSA for the Board of Pensions, the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly, and the General Assembly Council. She was asked to make the Power Point presentation available and it is available at

Moment for Mission
On January 25, 2009 the Portville Presbyterian Church held a Wii Bowl-a-thon to raise funds for Presbyterian Disaster Relief clean up buckets. “We raised $500 – a fun time was had by all!!!”  - Barb Fairbanks in a note to Carol Lally.

National Day of Prayer
Thursday, May 7, 2009 is The National Day of Prayer.  This year’s theme is “Prayer: America’s Hope.” Local groups will be gathering in front of Buffalo City Hall (Niagara Square) from noon to 1 pm for “Prayer in the Square.” There will also be a “Concert of Prayer Rally” on Friday, May 1 from 7-9 pm in the Student Union Auditorium at the University of Buffalo North Campus.  Bulletin inserts are available from

Did you know…..
Wright Memorial Church has a breakfast on the first Saturday of every month from September through June? The next one will be on May 2 from 9-10 a.m. If you like Indian fry bread, homemade pies and corn soup, follow Route 438 South from Route 20 to the church.

Time of Forgiveness at Thomas Indian School
The Thomas Indian School in nearby Gowanda will be the part of a “Wellbriety Journey of Forgiveness.” The first US government Indian Boarding School was founded in Carlisle, Pa in 1879. Indian children were separated from their parents, denied access to their language, culture and customs, and even worse abuse occurred. The goal of the journey is to promote awareness, dialogue, forgiveness and healing among Native people for the trauma resulting from the Boarding School Era. The Journey will take place from May 16-June 24, 2009. The visit to Thomas Indian School will take place on June 19. For more information visit www.whitebison.org.
