Holy Cow! Consulting, the firm created by Russ Crabtree, author of The Fly In the Ointment, has now assessed hundreds of churches and discovered that in some churches, members bear witness to an unusually high level of meaning and energy in their life as the Body of Christ. These are transformational churches.  Holy Cow! is on a journey to learn what these churches have discovered that they can share with other church leaders across the country.
Join them for their first free Webinar with two leaders from Sixth Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Rev. Mary Louise McCullough and Elder Fred O'Leary.  The Webinar, entitled Creating a Vital Urban Church, will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (EST).
Space is limited, so please register now for this important learning opportunity by clicking here - (REGISTER NOW)

Outreach and Mission Seminars Coming in May
Are you inspired by the idea of doing outreach and mission for your congregation, but lack adequate knowledge or resources?  Or are you a seasoned practitioner who feels called to reassess your congregation’s social witness and set a new direction?  “Equipping the Congregation for Outreach and Mission” will be held:

Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church, 1200 Winton Rd. South, Rochester, NY.

Saturday, May 8, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Rd, Grand Island, NY

Saturday, May 22, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Fairmount Community Church, 4801 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY.

Sponsored by the Gene Bennett Center for Lifelong Learning at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, the courses will be taught by Dana Horrell, Ph.D., Faculty Associate at the seminary, and Roderic Frohman, D.Min., Associate Pastor for Church in Society at Third Presbyterian Church, Rochester.

When thinking about outreach for mission, it helps to look inward (at congregational renewal) and outward (at social renewal) at the same time.  Building a “mission infrastructure” depends on good program ideas, recruitment and team building skills, neighborhood analysis, tools for measuring effectiveness, and ideas for integrating charity and justice.  Through an assessment tool, discussion and multi-media presentations, participants are provided examples of “best practices” in social ministry.

Seminar cost is $65.  Cost is $75 after April 26 for Rochester, May 3 for Buffalo and May 17 for Syracuse and includes lunch and course handouts.  Groups of two or more from the same church are encouraged, with additional registrations (after the first) at $35.  For more information visit www.congregationinpubliclife.org and look for “What’s New” or call 315-439-9154 or send an email to dhorrell@crcds.edu.  To register send a $25 non-refundable deposit payable to Global Disciple.   Send to CIPL, 135 Brookside Ln., Fayetteville, NY 13066.  $25 deposit must be received by the registration deadline of April 26 (Rochester), May 3 (Buffalo) or May 17 (Syracuse) to ensure your registration.
