What? - CEJ's Strike for Justice

When? - Saturday August 8, 2009 7-9pm

Where? - Kenmore Lanes

CEJ is hosting its annual Strike for Justice on Saturday August 8, at the Kenmore Lanes. Come party under the disco lights with what Artvoice readers have recently voted one of the best organizations in WNY. With CEJ fresh off of winning a Living Wage resolution for 1,000 Buffalo Public School Workers, this year's Strike for Justice is shaping up to be quite a celebration!

Don't miss it! In the spirit of solidarity everyone is encouraged to form a team - whether with your family (this is a kid friendly event), union, congregation, block club, firm, or office. Join us on the 8th to beat the heat and to have fun for a great cause!

Strike for Justice is a fun and simple way to raise money to support Living Wages, Rights at Work, and Economic Justice for All!

For those who missed out on last year, it works like this:
Everyone pays a simple $15 advance registration fee or recruits a 4-person team for a $50 registration fee. Your registration covers the cost of 2 games and shoes.

Ask friends, family, and co-workers to sponsor you games (Your friend or co-worker can't make it, but offers to sponsor you at $5-$10 per game or $0.10 a pin). Every extra dollar we raise will go towards important programming for CEJ!

We aren't all tremendous bowlers, therefore prizes will be awarded based on best team name, high scorer, best effort, best t-shirt, etc. So no matter your bowling ability, COME OUT AND BOWL A STRIKE FOR JUSTICE!

Look for registration forms in the mail in the coming weeks.
Call CEJ at 716.892.5877 with any questions or for extra forms.
See you in August!

Also...

With millions of regular people caught in the grip of foreclosures, ballooning mortgages and predatory loans the Fed is travelling to cities hard-hit by the economic crisis to hear about the urgent need of reform and we need YOU to be at the Buffalo meeting, July 16th at 6pm at Trinity Episcopal Church at 371 Delaware Ave.

The conversation will bring speakers from CEJ and other local organizations like the Partnership for the Public Good and Western New York Law Center along with on the ground testimony from neighborhood residents who deal with the effects of the crisis on a day-day basis. More importantly there will be a Question & Answer session to give everyone a chance to ask
questions of the Fed members and panel.

We need access to credit, banks that invest in our communities, and green jobs that pay us a living wage!

Real People have Real Power! So come on out and let the people from the Fed know what we need in our neighborhoods and that real economic recovery begins with us!
