Welcome to the Presbytery of Western New York!

Our major reason for being is to assist and enhance the life, mission and ministry of our sixty-nine congregations.  Given the fact that we are a quite diverse group of Presbyterians, we have achieved a rather strong and enduring sense of our unity as a body.  That is not to say that we agree on all issues theological or ecclesiological.  It is to say that our commitment to one another is genuine and healthy.

Our Presbytery possesses a rich array of personal resources to be employed in fulfilling our calling.  A simple listing of some of those resources will best indicate their importance:

• A solid core of experienced lay leaders, active both in congregations and Presbytery
• A universally trusted and respected financial system, anchored by our long-term Business Manager
• A strong and capable and seasoned Committee on Ministry
• Capable support staff eager and willing to assist the various parts of our Presbytery family
• A deepening sense that Presbytery exists to serve the churches and its leaders, rather than the churches existing to meet the needs of the Presbytery
• A strong tradition of informed (and at times constructively critical) support for the Presbyterian Church and for the Reformed way of being a church
• An ability to embrace our diversity, and to disagree without being disagreeable.
